10 Tips For Budget Meals

*use fresh produce that’s currently in season
*shop for foods that are currently on sale – scan grocery store aisles and newspaper coupon pages for deals
*have a good storage system eg freezing, refrigerating, canning. this helps your foods stay fresh and edible for long
*be willing to substitute items when making a meal eg boiled eggs for meat
*shop inexpensive grains such as lentils, barley, pasta, rice, couscous
*bulk up your meals with green veggies (ugwu, efo, spinach) – this is a good way to get a nutritious, filling, and inexpensive meal at the same time
*use leftovers. avoid food waste
*use leftovers creatively. for example, leftover roasted turkey one day could be converted to delicious turkey sandwiches the day after
*stock up on pantry staples when on sale eg packs of rice, beans, pasta, cereals, oil
*lastly, but certainly not least 😁, be open to trying out new things including, if necessary, what I’ll call makeshift meals. for example I’ve had one-pot spaghetti and beans. Trust me, it was delishhhh. this is another way to make your money go far when it comes to meal preparation.
